The pastor has been a professor at Sam Houston State University, Eastfield College, Southern Methodist University, Henderson State University and Chemeketa College.  He was formerly editor and/or publisher of five major magazines, an investigative reporter for a major daily newspaper and manager of media relations for what was then the nation’s largest electronic warfare systems developer.

He served as executive director of Lifeline World Mission and on the board of the Christian Film and Television Commission.  He is considered an expert on religious cults and his scripting and film work in the Middle East provided him opportunity to interview HAMAS and Hezbollah terrorist leaders.

Chaplain Georgia Risenhoover serves of The Church's congregational chaplain and is coordinator of Texas Baptists’ “Hands on Ministry” training program for volunteer chaplains and an associate endorser of chaplains for the denomination.
