The Church and Its Ministries
Worship, undergirded by Evangelism, is the priority of The Church. The elements of our worship are:
1) Reading the Word
2) Preaching the Word
3) Singing the Word, and
4) Praying the Word.
As The Church grows, current ministries will be expanded and new ministries will be added. A partial list of ministries includes:
Bible Study – We have a range of Sunday and Wednesday Bible Study opportunities for all ages. Classes are available for adults, specifically for men, specifically for women, children, and youth. Our purpose is to offer opportunities for studying the Word of God for people in all walks of Christian faith. Nursery/preschool programs for the young ones are also offered during Bible Study and Worship times.
Fellowship – Our Sunday Bible Study is preceded by a half-hour fellowship period in which coffee and light refreshments are available to attendees. Our 6 p.m. supper on Wednesdays, followed by Bible study, provides another fellowship opportunity. And, of course, we have a number of special events throughout the church year, which runs from October through September.
Music Ministry – We call our worship team musicians "Holy Ground." We have an exceptional group of soloists and singers and an exceptional group of musicians to complement them. There are many opportunities for worship and ministry in music at The Church, and there will always be a place for dedicated musicians and singers. They can be assured that we will fully utilize the talents of all who play and sing for the Lord.
Children’s Ministry – Children need to have an active role in the establishment of The Church, so we're engaging them in every facet of church development. For some children, this may be a once in a lifetime experience, but as they grow older it may also be the catalyst that will help some of them build future New Testament congregations. Children's Bible study is offered Sunday morning and Wednesday evening as well as a Children's Church time during the corporate worship hour (children are excused prior to the sermon). A classroom for nursery/preschool aged children is also provided Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. The Church also offers Vacation Bible School in the summer and participates in Good News Clubs during the school year to reach out to the community and offer fun and Bible-based activities for children. Children's ministries are provided by Director of Youth and Children Ministries Anne Mehall and background checked volunteers.
TRY (Thistle Ridge Youth: Rock Solid!) – Youth, like children, should have an active role in the establishment of The Church. And, while establishing a new congregation may possibly be only a once in a lifetime experience for some of them, it will, hopefully, spur them to plant other New Testament churches as they age and grow in the Christian faith. Therefore, we engage youth in every facet of church life. Anne Mehall is our Director of Youth and Children Ministries and works with a dedicated group of background checked volunteers to provide opportunities for our youth. Our youth participate in their own specific Bible studies and youth conferences, fellowship activities like game nights and roller skating, and service projects for the community in addition to participating in church activities.
Gospel Lights – Our women's ministry is called "Gospel Lights," and provides an opportunity to serve Christ in a number of ways - Bible study, missions, mentoring and benevolence.
Gospel Messengers – Our men’s ministry is called "Gospel Messengers," and like our women's group, helps equip people to be “salt and light” in their unique spheres of influence.
